Overview:

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical design principles, proficiency in CAD software, and enthusiasm for developing the future of helium and hydrogen applications. Excellent communication skills are a must for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to design mechanical components and systems for cryogenic and industrial gas applications.
  • Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure design integrity and performance.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, BOMs, and manuals. 
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes.
  • Assist in the prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs.
  • Support the manufacturing team by providing clear and accurate design information.
  • Support the sales & marketing teams by making presentations and diagrams that help to clearly explain the things we sell.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design, industrial systems, or a related field. 
  • Bonus points for any experience with cryogenics or industrial gasses.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD or SolidWorks).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to take a concept and be able to clearly communicate it with writing and diagrams.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.

Process Designer

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior/Intermediate Process designer to support the development and optimization of our advanced cryogenic and industrial systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering principles, with a particular interest in helium and hydrogen applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, development, and optimization of cryogenic and industrial systems for helium and hydrogen applications.
  • Conduct process simulations and analyses to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical designers and project managers.
  • Perform process hazard analyses (PHA) and participate in risk assessments.
  • Support the commissioning and start-up of new systems, including troubleshooting and resolving process-related issues.

Quantum Technology Corporation (QTC) is a leader in industrial gas solutions, particularly hydrogen, and helium, and nitrogen recovery, purification, and liquefication processes. For 40 years, QTC served customers on all continents, including some of the most reputable industries, research centers, and universities.

QTC has developed solutions for the metallurgical industry, a large consumer of specialized industrial gases. Thus, QTC has built several Helium recovery and purification systems for cold spray applications, recovering over 85-90% of the process helium, which is purified to 99.99%.

Graduate Job Duties:

  • Using physics/engineering formulas to calculate expected performance
  • Using design and procurement skills to find and purchase key components including valves, regulators, turbines, pressure swing adsorbants, diffusion membranes, purity meters, mass flow controllers etc
  • Using hands on skills to assemble piping and instrumentation systems and prepare for testing
  • Using report writing skills to summarize experimental test results and recommend design improvements

Graduate Qualifications::

  • We are looking for a positive and organized person to help us with the assembly and test of various items such as valves, regulators, pressure transducers, etc. for custom compressed gas piping systems.
  • Experience is not necessary but an asset.
  • A love for science and a willingness to follow directions in a fast-paced environment is a must.
